Blog Tour: A Christmas Wish

Today I am delighted to be joined by Erin Green for a Q&A session as part of her blog tour for A Christmas Wish.

So Erin, can you tell us about your latest book, A Christmas Wish?

Flora Philips has an excuse for everything that goes wrong in her life! She was abandoned as a baby on a doorstep. Without a boyfriend, career or home of her own she decides it is time to seek the truth. She visits the village of Pooley on Christmas Eve to see her beginnings. Sadly, she ends up in a spot of bother and is detained by the local police. Flora stays in the village and gets to know the locals, hoping that someone knows her beginnings. Laughter, tears and a possible romance assist her journey towards the truth.

Who was the easiest characters in this book to write?

Annie O’Neil almost wrote herself whenever she entered a chapter, her warm, caring nature was easy to capture by her talk and mannerisms.

Where do you get your character inspiration from?

I gain ideas for characters anywhere and everywhere. I only need to see a name and my muse begins to whir. I’ve had characters develop from chance meetings with strangers, names on tv credits, headstones in graveyards even overheard conversations can spark a character idea. I choose my character names carefully as I always look at the meanings behind names.

What are your 3 desert island books?

Pride and Prejudice – Austen, Chronicles of Narnia – C.s. Lewis and Me Before You – Jojo Moyes

What is your favourite place to read?

Curled upon the sofa with a warm blanket and hot tea.

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

I’m an avid reader, I love long rambling walks with my dog, Teddy and spending time with husband. I recently learnt how to ring church bells so am practising whenever possible. The rest of the time I daydream.

You have a free flight and accommodation to anywhere in the world where would you go?

Difficult choice between Ireland and India – I don’t think I could decide to be honest as I have roots in both countries.

What is your favourite season?

Autumn – I love the glorious colours of gold, browns and reds. It’s as if nature is dressed in her finest before hibernation occurs.

What do you love about writing?

I love that my imagination can run wild with me selecting the best bits for plotlines. I adore people watching and attempting to see the world through another another’s eyes.

You have a day off – no children/work/responsibilities…what do you do?

I’d spend the day reading or putting the Christmas decoration up if it was to be today.

Flora Phillips has an excuse for every disaster in her life; she was abandoned as a new-born on a doorstep one cold autumn night, wrapped in nothing but a towel. Her philosophy is simple: if your mother doesn’t want you – who will?

Now a thirty-year-old, without a boyfriend, a career or home she figures she might as well tackle the biggest question of them all – who is she? So, whilst everyone else enjoys their Christmas Eve traditions, Flora escapes the masses and drives to the village of Pooley to seek a specific doorstep. Her doorstep.

But in Pooley she finds more than her life story. She finds friends, laughter, and perhaps even a love to last a lifetime. Because once you know where you come from, it’s so much easier to know where you’re going.

A story of redemption and love, romance and Christmas dreams-come-true, the perfect novel to snuggle up with this festive season.
