He lied to her. Fed her the same lines as he did all the other girls. Instead of proposing, he dumped her on national TV. Would a romance with a hockey superstar prove just as disastrous—or could it be the greatest love story of her life?

Cast as America’s reality show sweetheart after being jilted on a dating show, Skye Reeve is ready to stop being a broken hearted woman by proving she’s more than what the camera portrayed her to be. She’s landed her dream job as a TV lifestyle reporter and promises to work hard to be a success.

Skye also vows never to be swept up in a fairy tale romance ever again, as she obviously has no clue what real love is.

Being in the same city as Denver Mountain Lions hockey star Maxime Laurent, however, might make this last goal impossible.

Dealing with ghosts from his own past, the Belgian hockey star is known for keeping his life off the ice private. He’s not sure if outgoing Skye could be a match for him, but he can’t deny his attraction to her.

When the two embark on a romance, will they be able to move forward from the past to let love into their hearts? With no reality blurred, will Skye find real-life love to be what she had been looking for all along?

Thank you to Aven for letting me organise this tour. As I’m sure you know I am a HUGE Aven fan. This is the second full length book in the Rinkside in the Rockies series however they can all be read as a stand alone as each book focuses on a different couple.

In this story we are following Skye who is learning to trust again after being publicly humiliated. Skye starred on Is it Love? a reality dating show. While Skye thought her and Tom had something special he was feeding her the same lines as all the other girls. Now, months later, Skye is over Tom but she is reluctant to trust anyone. She thinks that she can’t tell the real from the fake and worries she’s going to get hurt all over again. I really liked Skye. While I am totally different to her and would hate to be in the public eye she would make an excellent friend. When I was reading this book I felt like I was hearing about my friends dating experiences.

Skye and Maxime briefly met in Sugar and Ice and you could feel the chemistry between these two instantly. Maxime is the opposite of Skye. He loves his quiet life and keeping his private life just that. He’s not big on socials and rarely posts. He loves nothing more than spending time at home with his pups. Maxime worries that his life is too boring for Skye.

While these two may seem like opposites they are perfect for each other. Fate brought them together and nothing is going to get in their way.

One of my favourite things about Aven’s stories is her humour. Her books make me laugh and laugh and laugh. She has a way of writing these situations that are so real and so funny. I can totally see myself or my friends doing these things.

Recent times haven’t been easy for me and reading this book was the perfect escapism. It’s full of love, laughter and romantic moments. This book lifted my spirits and helped to forget my problems for a while.

I love Aven’s writing and I can’t wait for my next fix. I know Aven has a whole host of books lined up and I can’t wait to tell you all about those in the near future.

About Aven Ellis

I live in the Dallas area with my family. I enjoy clipping out recipes I will never get around to trying, working out, and chatting with friends on social media. I’m a hockey nut (Go Stars!) and watch as much as humanly possible. I also love shopping and fashion and admit to being obsessed with whatever the Duchess of Cambridge is wearing. In addition to be obsessed with the Duchess, I’m equally obsessed with any show or cookbook featuring Gordon Ramsay.
