Friday in Focus: Kayla

Posted 25th March 2016 by Emma in FIF / 0 Comments

It’s Friday and not only that it’s Good Friday which means 4 day weekend! Whoop. To celebrate I’m joined by the lovely Kayla for this week’s Friday in Focus

I’ve been reading (& loving!) Emma’s Friday in Focus posts and first, I have to say it’s amazing of Emma to let us come in and use her blog to reach her readers. It’s so thoughtful and selfless; thank you for having me Emma! Now with that being said, I am going to take you in a completely different direction today…I’m here to talk beauty!

A good lippie can change your life! Okay, maybe not your whole life, but at the very least your day. Trust me, throw on some lipstick or gloss and you instantly look like you have your life together-I do this daily! Fake it til you make it, honey! This spring I think glosses are going to make a comeback and as much as I love a good matte lippie, a good gloss can go along way. I think with makeup you should draw inspiration from things around you and Spring = flowers! Floral colored glosses will brighten even the rainiest April day.

Left to Right

tarte Lipsurgence Skintuitive Lip Gloss $19 Alter Ego Lip Gloss LORAC Cosmetics $16 Bliss Color Bold Over Liquefied Lipstick in Ahh-Mazing Magenta $21 Dolce & Gabbana Ultra-Shine Lip Gloss in Pink Diamond $32 Dior Beauty Dior Addict Ultra Gloss in Gems $31 NARS Larger Than Life Lip Gloss $26

The great thing about glosses is as they are coming off, you know while you’re eating or drinking throughout the day, they don’t leave a funny ring around your lips. Instead they leave a nice sheen, hints of color, and you still look put together even though it’s 3pm and you’re on latte #2.

Another on point Spring lip trend is Popsicle stained lips. You can either pick up a stain or two, or take your fave lipstick and create your own! Yup, that’s right, you can take any color lippie that you already own and love and use it as a stain. You’ll just need a really special beauty tool, brace yourself, your fingers!! No seriously, take your pointer finger and swipe a few strokes of the lipstick and bam, you have a lip stain. A trick I love to use is to apply most of the product to your lower bottom lip and blend. Once you’ve gotten the color all over your lips, you can take a tissue and blot to remove any access product. And what’s left is a gorgeous stain that will last you all day!
