It’s Evie’s birthday and the start of a year she’ll never forget. An emotional story of love, friendship and grabbing life by the horns.

Evie’s job has always been her safe haven. As a librarian in the little town of Becton she loses herself in books – after all it’s far easier to read about other people’s problems than set about solving her own.

Then, one birthday, everything is turned upside down. A mysterious parcel containing a beautiful book with a poignant inscription arrives for Evie. It’s the beginning of a new chapter for Evie and she’s inspired to try and find her real mother.

Evie’s search leads her to meet handsome author Noah Jones. Charming and intelligent, Noah seems the perfect catch but what Evie doesn’t realise is that he is hiding something – a key to Evie’s past.

As Evie gets closer to Noah and discovering her mother, she must take a giant leap of faith. Can she embrace the new and make this her year of taking chances? And if she does, will she get her heart broken?

Thank you to Bookouture for providing me with a copy of this book via Netgalley. I have a few of Christie’s books on my TBR pile but this is the first one I have read.

The main character in this book is Evie Cooper. Evie has had a less than perfect life. As a child she never felt like she was loved or wanted. Moving from foster home to foster home Evie’s early years were quite unsettled. As she reaches her 23rd birthday, her life is stable and she finally has the courage to look or her birth mother.

I actually loved every single character in this book. They all had such great personalities, but I think my favourite was Clara. She was spunky and really helped Evie to come out of her shell. I also thought Irene is a truly inspirational woman. After losing her husband she not only took in Evie she also gave her more love, care and attention that she’s ever had in her life.

I guessed who Evie’s birth mother was before it was revealed but there were a lot more surprises that I did not see coming.

This book was quite the emotional roller-coaster at times but I found it extremely easy and enjoyable to read. I look forward to reading more of Christie’s books in the near future.

Friday In Focus Jenny Hale

It’s Friday! WOOOOO. Today I am excited to be joined by Jenny Hale to learn more about her and her new book. Tell us a little about you. When I graduated college, one of my friends said, “Look out for this one; she’s going to be an author one day.” Despite being an avid reader and a natural storyteller, it wasn’t until that very moment that the idea of writing novels occurred to me. While I didn’t start straight away, that comment sowed a seed and several years, two children, and hundreds of thousands of words later, I completed a […]
