Can curses really live outside of fairy tales?

At Winter Solstice something came for the Penningtons and tore their family apart. On the same day, thirteen years later, daughters Iysobel and Ziema are terrified by what appears in the mirror before them.

Terrified a curse hangs over the Pennington family eldest daughter Iysobel struggles to uncover the truth and find out if the curse really does exist.

Fighting forces she never imagined existed outside of the fairy tales she read as a child; Iysobel is not only in danger of losing her life but also her heart. As she discovers hidden secrets about her mother and even herself, Iysobel is caught up in an icy web of magic and mystery.

This winter one thing Iysobel isn’t wishing for is a white Christmas...

Thank you to Jenny for letting me take part in this tour. I have previously read 2 of Gina’s books and I thoroughly enjoyed both of them. Gina has a way of dragging you into the story so that instead of sitting on your couch, you are standing in the middle of the snowy landscape with Iysobel, Ziema and Coleman.

We begin this book when Iysobel is only 2 years old. Here we see the curse that is placed upon their family. We then drop in on the girls as they grow up and see them experience some freaky goings on that they have no idea how to explain. Then jumping to the current day when the girls are in their 20’s we see that the girls are fully grown but still have the loss of their parents over their heads.

I am slightly struggling with this review. Not because I didn’t enjoy it. I thoroughly did, I honestly couldn’t put it down. I was up reading it at 2am this morning. But because I do not want to give away one single detail. Every part of this book is magical and I want you all to fully appreciate it without me ruining it.

Iysobel and Ziema are both strong women who most definitely do not give up without a fight. Coleman is the dashing male counterpart. He is hot and he is sexy but he also bound by magic and unable to help.

I was halfway through this book and I honestly didn’t know how Gina was going to fit everything in. I had a vision of how the book was going to end and what I thought would happen and at 60% I thought no way is this going to all fit in, but somehow Gina managed to get the pace exactly perfect and before I knew it everything had happened without it feeling rushed.

This book has a dash of Disney magic with a splash of romance giving you a grown up’s fairytale.

I cannot wait to read more of Gina’s books.

About Gina Dickerson

Gina Dickerson lives by the Thanet coast on the north-eastern tip of Kent, in the UK, with her family and playful Siberian husky. She is a full-time author and writes romantic suspense with a twist, horror, and fantasy because her characters refuse to play nice and wind up with more than a few bone-rattling skeletons in their closets.

She is the author of the murderous romantic suspense novels Lies Love Tells and Unveiling Christmas, the twisted short story collection, Underleaf, as well as the fantasy, adventurous romance series Mortiswood Tales – the first in the series being Mortiswood: Kaelia Awakening. She has also written fashion and shopping columns for a local newspaper.

When she’s not writing, Gina loves rummaging in vintage clothes shops, taking way too many photographs, and leafing through fashion glossies.
