Book News: Guest Post with Zara Stonely

Day 4 of Harper Impulse Fortnight and I am glad to welcome to Zara Stoneley to Star Crossed Reviews.

Thank you so much for inviting me here today Emma to talk about my Tippermere books as part of the HarperImpulse Fortnight celebration.

So here are the two gorgeous covers side by side!

‘Stable Mates’ is already available, and ‘Country Affairs’ the second book in my Tippermere series is out very soon! (You can pre-order it now). The two books can be read independently, but reading the first one ‘Stable Mates’ will give you a bit more background on the characters and the place. And you could quite honestly read them in reverse order if you really wanted to (except it might spoil the ending a bit)!

I adored writing both these books, mainly because they were such fun and the characters became real friends (I wish they’d come to life). Several readers of ‘Stable Mates’ have said they think it would make a great TV series or film (and yes, I could see Maggie Smith playing Lady Elizabeth), and I must admit I would LOVE to see these characters come to life!

It was also great fun to write these books because of the animals. I’ve always had dogs at home (I used to run a dog grooming salon – but nothing like Tiggy’s) and the one with the most character was a little Jack Russell terrier called Darcey. We loved her to bits, she was a bundle of energy who sadly died when she was quite young.

Writing about Tilly and the terrier trio gave me a chance to remember the best bits of her short life. And having owned quite a few horses I couldn’t resist adding a few badly behaved ones into the books – you know the type of horse that dumps you on the ground then looks innocently down as if to say ‘what on earth are you doing there?’ The star of the equine cast in my mind has to be Merlin the cob, and his spectacular entrance in ‘Country Affairs’. He was inspired by a beautiful Welsh cob x Dales I owned who was an absolute treasure! I really hope you enjoy the animal antics as much as you enjoy reading about Lottie and the hot men – they’re certainly a very real part of country life.

Welcome back to Tippermere for the wedding of the year…

Scatty but loveable Lottie Brinkley is famous throughout the village for her disorganised personality so when she steps up to plan the perfect wedding the only likely outcome is disaster.

And when her globetrotting, love cheat of an ex, Todd, literally crashes the wedding on a not-so-noble steed things definitely look set to take a turn for the scandalous! As rumours of why he’s back spread through the village quicker than the stable girl can drop her knickers, is Lottie’s future with sexy eventer Rory Steel about to fall at the next fence?

With a wave of unexpected pregnancies, steamy shenanigans in the hay and a farrier with more than shoeing horses on his mind, will Lottie ever be ready to take on the coveted title of Lady of the Manor and restore the Estate to its former glory?

As the heart of the village, Tipping House Estate, makes its move into the 21st Century, pulses start to race in a novel packed full of charm, hunky stallions (the guys that is), and a daring plan that just has to succeed…

About Zara Stoneley

Bestselling author Zara Stoneley lives in deepest Cheshire surrounded by horses, dogs, cats and amazing countryside. When she’s not visiting wine bars, artisan markets or admiring the scenery in her sexy high heels or green wellies, she can be found in flip flops on the beach in Barcelona, or more likely sampling the tapas!
Zara writes hot romance and bonkbusters. Her latest novel, ‘Stable Mates’, is a fun romp through the Cheshire countryside and combines some of her greatest loves – horses, dogs, hot men and strong women (and not forgetting champagne and fast cars)!
She writes for Harper Collins and Accent Press.
