Why I Started Blogging

Posted 17th July 2014 by Emma in Blog Birthday, Giveaway / 3 Comments

So tomorrow is my 1st blog birthday and I thought before we celebrate that you should all know why I started blogging.

I’ll tell you a secret this isn’t my first blog. Around 2 and a half years ago I started a blog on blogger, I didn’t have it for very long only a few months before I decided to give up on it. I couldn’t get on with blogger. I know lots of lovely blogs that use it so it must just be me. Anyways I didn’t like it.

The reason I started that blog was because I had just finished reading I Heart New York by Lindsey Kelk. For those of you who haven’t read it, and now you really should, the MC (Angie) ups and runs from England to NY and she gets a job as a blogger for a magazine. I was extremely jealous of Angela and her new job. I’ve always wanted to go to NY, one day I will get there, and her job sounded so cool. I decided I love reading so why not start blogging about books. As I said it didn’t last long and the main reason was that I didn’t like blogger but there were others which I will come onto on tomorrow’s post.

The reason I started this blog was actually because I had just finished reading About A Girl also by Miss Kelk and I was inspired to write my thoughts down. I don’t know what it is about her books but something in them makes me want to write and write. I have the worst imagination and I’m rubbish at making up stories. Creative writing was always my worst subject at school but writing down my thoughts and opinions is something I am pretty good at.

I never thought this blog would grow as big as it has and I have to say a massive thank you to everyone who has read my posts, sent me books to review, tweeted/retweeted/favourited/followed my twitter ramblings, liked my FB page, let me participate in blog tours and any other way that has contributed to this being the best year of my life.

To nicely tie in with why I started blogging today is also the release of What A Girl Wants the sequel to About A Girl by Lindsey Kelk, Happy Pub day Lindsey, so I bid you goodbye so I can devour it.

Being arrested in your own bedroom is never a good start to the day. Tess Brookes really needs to sort out her back-stabbing flatmate – and her life.

Should she gamble all on the new photography job she’s landed, or snap up the offer from long-time crush and best friend Charlie to start up on their own – in more ways than one? There’s just one small thing she hasn’t mentioned. Or rather, one tall thing. He’s handsome, infuriating and called Nick…

For the first time, Tess has to choose between the life she always dreamed of and a future she never imagined possible. From London to Milan, with high fashion and low behaviour thrown in, she’s going to have to make up her mind what a girl really wants…

About Lindsey Kelk

Um, hi! My name is Lindsey, I’m a writer, I live in New York and I’m an interwebs addict. Phew, now I’ve got that off my chest, there’s really not much else to say. I’m from England, specifically ‘up north’, lived in London for seven years then skidaddled to New York. I’ve been here since 2009 and I really don’t particularly want to leave. It’s ever so nice.

I write books, I write articles for magazines, I blog about beauty things, sometimes I put myself in very silly situations and write about that and on the odd occasion, I interview people. I’m much better at talking about myself though. I have been described as an ‘oversharer’. And ‘gobby’. I believe this is endearing.

I love music, movies and TV. I watch WWE. A lot. It’s possible I’m actually a 14-year-old boy who is confused about his sexuality. I’m naturally blonde. The prescription for my right eye is -9.5. I’m never in one place for too long and next year I want to travel lots more. I like cooking, eating and entertaining. And fashion. And yoga. And talking all of the time. I love texting. And karaoke. And Twitter. And football. And obviously, I’m a fan of reading, writing and all things book-related. I hate mosquitoes, small-minded people and pickles. But not pickled onions. I like pickled onions. Hard to get in the states, you know.

I blog because I think it is a great way to express myself, and it gives me things to do in my spare time. I read blogs because they are very interesting (all of the ones I read are anyway- including yours!) 🙂
