When Lindsey appealed to her twitter family for some promo for I Heart Christmas I dropped everything and wrote my questions. I cannot explain just how impossibly excited I am about this. For those of you who have been hiding under a rock for the last few days I Heart Christmas ebook was released last Thursday in 3 parts and part one is free! So you have no excuse not to log on to Amazon this instant and download it. The paperback and the complete ebook will be released on Thursday 21st. Q: Tell us about I Heart Christmas.
A: It’s been a little over a year since Angela and Alex got married and life is trotting on happily. Angela is still working at Gloss, Alex is merrily making music and they’re looking forward to a merry little Christmas. But of course that would be too simple. Before she knows what’s going on, Angela has a new job, a broody best friend, an unexpected visitor avec toddler and Alex throwing curveballs at her from every angle. Basically, the book asks the question ‘can women have it all’ but with added tinsel, fairy lights and eggnog. And it’s funny. I think. Or at least I think it is.

Q: What made you start the I Heart series?
A: Honestly, I was bored with everything in my life and I needed an ‘anywhere but here’ fantasy. I’d just got back from a trip to NYC with my big brother and loved it completely – before I knew it, I Heart New York had basically written itself.
Q: Which was your favourite country to write about and visit for your books?
A: It’s really hard to choose one, I can’t say I’ve been anywhere that I didn’t love. Obviously I really liked New York because I moved here! Hawaii was pretty amazing, I’ve never been a beach person but I loved it there and I just got back from Italy, researching next summer’s book and I really, really, really didn’t want to leave. Gorgeous.
I had the same feeling when I visited Venice. Italy has that effect. I really want to go visit Rome next year.
Q: Are you a chocolate or sweets girl?
A: I am a greedy girl. Some days it’s chocolate, some days it’s sweets. Mostly gummy sweets if I’m working, chocolate is more of an indulgence.
It is difficult to chose between sweets and chocolate. They are both so good.
Q:What is your favourite thing about Christmas?
A: I just love the way it makes people so happy. Everyone’s a little nicer at Christmas time.
I totally agree Christmas is the best time of year.
Q: Tell us your ideal Christmas Day
A: It’s difficult to choose because I’ve had so many great Christmases and they’ve all been different. The only things I definitely want are the tree, a chocolate orange, people I love and an obscene amount of dinner. If you can throw in a few Christmas TV specials, I’m a very happy girl.
That sounds pretty ideal. I also thought Angela’s Christmas day was perfect. I hope to have a Christmas day that is that good.
Q: What is your favourite place in London and New York.
A: My favourite place in New York is my apartment, I love my little home and in London, it would either be the Dean Street Townhouse, which I loved, or something amazing like Nandos You’d be amazed at what you miss when it’s taken away…
Q: You’re on a desert island and you can only take three books with you, what would you take?
A: That’s too hard! Eurgh, definitely The Secret History by Donna Tartt, The Hours by Michael Cunningham and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte. Actually, can I take the complete works of the Brontes? Because I want Jane Eyre too. In fact, there’s no way I can do three books. I’d smuggle a Kindle in. Don’t ask me how.
Q: What do you miss most about England?
A: My friends. Things stop mattering so much when you don’t have the people that you love.
Q: Where is the best place to spend Christmas New York or England? and Why?
A: They’re both great, just different. In England, it’s a family affair which is great whereas New York is a lot of fun with friends. If we’re here, we go out to a swanky restaurant, walk around the city.
Q: What was the best and worst Christmas present you have ever received?
A: This is so hard! The best was probably the My Little Pony Lullabye Nursery which my mother told me she couldn’t get anywhere (LIAR) and the worst was the time my nana’s friend gave me a My Little Pony I already had. I was too young to explain and too emotionally overwhelmed to deal with the disappointment – I bawled. As you can see, I was a big fan of the ponies.
Q: What is your favourite Christmas song?
A: Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses. LOVE IT.
Q: I loved Jenny Lopez has a bad week, Will you or have you thought of writing a full novel from Jenny’s perspective?
A: Yes, I’ve totally thought about it and we did float it for a while but the general thought from the publisher and my agent was that there wouldn’t be enough interest in a full Jenny novel BUT I’m pretty sure she’ll have her say again soon enough. I love writing Jenny.

I’m never in one place for too long and next year I want to travel lots more. I like cooking, eating and entertaining. And fashion. And yoga. And talking all of the time. I love texting. And karaoke. And Twitter. And football. And obviously, I’m a fan of reading, writing and all things book-related. I hate mosquitoes, small-minded people and pickles. But not pickled onions. I like pickled onions. Hard to get in the states, you know.
