Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace. He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do.
You’d like to get to know Grace better.
But it’s difficult because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart.
Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.
Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.
I’ve had this book on my TBR pile for a few years and when my works book club suggested it I knew it was the perfect time to bump this up my TBR pile. This is a creepy, dark and twisted psychological thriller.
Jack and Grace appear to have the perfect marriage but if you look a little deeper you’ll see that it’s all a lie. Jack is not the man he seems. I felt that Grace was a little naive and jumped into life with Jack far too quickly. Jack is a sadistic, manipulative piece of work. I won’t go into all the details but there are some really horrific scenes in this book. Ones that will break your heart and thank your lucky stars you aren’t with a Jack. There are some small parts of this book that seem a bit unbelievable but on the whole, I could see this happening.
This book had a good pace. I was really hooked and read it very quickly. I really liked the time jumps. we started off with the present and had the past woven in with flashbacks.
If you like a real creepy psychological thriller then this one is for you!
