Blog Tour: Oh! What A Pavolva

Today I am very excited to be joined by Isabella May on the book birthday of Oh! What a Pavolva.

Isabella, can you tell us a little about you?

I’m Isabella May. I write fantastical foodie fiction with a twist. I live in Andalusia, Spain but grew up in Glastonbury, the UK’s most mystical town… I’m a passionate advocate of eating what you want, and promoting positive body image. With that in mind, I have my cake daily and eat it! I’m a HUGE Prince fan. I recently became a Level 3 Pranic Healer, and I am a bit of a Law of Attraction junkie. I always have at least three holidays in the pipeline

Can you summarise Oh! What a Pavlova?

Oh! What a Pavlova, my debut novel which is currently celebrating its first book birthday, is a coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of domestic violence, cake, publishing and travel; all served up with a side of spirituality and comedy. There’s a lot going on but somehow it works

What was the hardest part of writing this book?

The domestic violence scenes required an elephant grey day to put onto paper. But they were an essential part of the story

What do you like to do when you’re not writing?

Reading, spending time at the beach (we’re lucky enough to live on one!), baking, exploring exciting new destinations, cocktail sampling – all in no particular order and preferably in the same day.

Chocolate or sweets?

Green and Black’s Milk Chocolate EVERY time!

You have a free flight and accommodation to anywhere in the world where would you go?

I’ve travelled a lot but New Orleans is high on the wish list for the cocktails, Caribbean fusion style food, and of course, the music…

Who is your favourite author? Why?

Joanne Harris is one of my favourite authors. I’m in awe of the way she fuses magical realism into real life. She writes like a dream

What do you love about writing?

It’s cathartic. It’s my personal meditation. Telling a story: there’s no greater joy.

Is there anything you hate about writing?

I’m not so keen on spiteful one and two star reviews so I’ve stopped frequenting Goodreads!

You have a day off – no children/work/responsibilities…what do you do?

Drive to Malaga airport at the crack of dawn and see where I can fly to and from in a day!

Kate Clothier is leading a double life: a successful jet-setting businesswoman to the outside world, but behind closed doors, life with Daniel and his volcanic temper is anything but rosy.

Some days – heck, make that EVERY day – cake is her only salvation.

Slowly but surely, the cities she visits – and the men she meets – help her to realise there IS a better future.

And the ley lines of Glastonbury are certainly doing their best to impart their mystical wisdom…

But will she escape before it’s too late?

About Isabella May

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the sea and the mountains. When she isn’t having her cake and eating it, sampling a new cocktail on the beach, or ferrying her children to and from after school activities, she can usually be found writing. As a co-founder and a former contributing writer for the popular online women’s magazine, The Glass House Girls – www.theglasshousegirls.com – she has also been lucky enough to subject the digital world to her other favourite pastimes, travel, the Law of Attraction, and Prince (The Purple One). She has recently become a Book Fairy, and is having lots of fun with her imaginative ‘drops’! Costa del Churros is her third novel with Crooked Cat Books, following on from the hit sensations, Oh! What a Pavlova and The Cocktail Bar.
