Rock star, River Jackson, is back in his hometown of Glastonbury to open a cocktail bar… and the locals aren’t impressed.
Seductive Georgina is proving too hot to handle; band mate, Angelic Alice, is messing with his heart and his head; his mum is a hippie-dippy liability; his school friends have resorted to violence – oh, and his band manager, Lennie, AND the media are on his trail.
But River is armed with a magical Mexican elixir which will change the lives of the Three Chosen Ones. Once the Mexican wave of joy takes a hold of the town, he’s glad he didn’t lose his proverbial bottle.
Pity he hasn’t taken better care of the real one…

Thank you to Rachel for letting me take part in this tour. I read the follow up to this book before Christmas so I was very interested to go back to the beginning and find out how The Cocktail Bar began.

River is our MC. He is quite the character. Ex-rock star who now runs a cocktail bar! I loved hearing his views on cocktails and how they don’t get enough credit. Cocktails are always seen as a girly drink but I don’t think that has to be the case at all. I really liked River although there were times when I thought he was a bit dense to what was going on around him.

The villain of this story is Georgina. She is a cow from start to finish. I couldn’t stand her and couldn’t wait for her to get her comeuppance. She really shows us what happens when you let things fester.

And then there’s Alice. When I read Twinkle Twinkle Bar I really liked Alice so I was looking forward to seeing how her story began. She is such a sweetie.

This book is a story not only about love but about allowing yourself to be who you truly want to be. It’s about realising that your dream is important no matter what anyone else says about it. At the same time it’s also about the fact that we can only do so much and in life, there are things outside of our control.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is an uplifting and light-hearted read. The book was a joy to read. With laughter, a little anger and a whole load of cocktails. I seriously need a trip to River’s bar stat!

About Isabella May

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalucia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the sea and the mountains. When she isn’t having her cake and eating it, sampling a new cocktail on the beach, or ferrying her children to and from after school activities, she can usually be found writing. As a co-founder and a former contributing writer for the popular online women’s magazine, The Glass House Girls – www.theglasshousegirls.com – she has also been lucky enough to subject the digital world to her other favourite pastimes, travel, the Law of Attraction, and Prince (The Purple One). She has recently become a Book Fairy, and is having lots of fun with her imaginative ‘drops’! Costa del Churros is her third novel with Crooked Cat Books, following on from the hit sensations, Oh! What a Pavlova and The Cocktail Bar.
