A new series about love, curses, and the lengths that people will go to for happily ever after.
Evangeline Fox was raised in her beloved father’s curiosity shop, where she grew up on legends about immortals, like the tragic Prince of Hearts. She knows his powers are mythic, his kiss is worth dying for, and that bargains with him rarely end well.
But when Evangeline learns that the love of her life is about to marry another, she becomes desperate enough to offer the Prince of Hearts whatever he wants in exchange for his help to stop the wedding. The prince only asks for three kisses. But after Evangeline’s first promised kiss, she learns that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than she’s pledged. And he has plans for Evangeline that will either end in the greatest happily ever after, or the most exquisite tragedy…

I LOVED the Caraval series so I was very excited to start this series set in the same world. You can read this without reading the Caraval series but I think you would get a better understanding of one of our main characters The Prince of Hearts AKA Jacks.

Evangeline Fox is our other main character. She foolishly makes a deal with Jacks which lands her in the world of the Fates. I liked Evangeline. She is hopeful if a little naïve. She comes a long way over the course of the book and it’s really lovely to see.

Jacks oh Jacks. All I wanted was to trust you but every time you make me question you. I want to root for you but you make it so damn hard. Jacks has many many layers and his true motivations are buried so deep we really don’t know them.

This book had elements of many well known fairytales thrown in. I absolutely love a fairytale or a retelling so this is right up my street.

Full of all the magic you would expect from this author, if you enjoyed Caraval then you will love delving deeper into this world.
