Where an ocean of love awaits
Malie Pukui doesn’t believe in happy ever after. After a tragedy caused her to flee her family and friends in Devon she found a fresh start in Hawaii. Here, working at a surf school, she can give back to those in need and try to overcome the greatest loss in her life.
Moved around foster homes throughout his childhood, Todd Masters has worked hard to be able to offer a brighter future to young disadvantaged children. Now he has his own charitable foundation working with a surf school in Hawaii, a job he loves, but he still can’t put his past behind him.
When Malie rescues Todd from the sea a spark ignites between them, and the two wounded souls find a common ground. But amidst the surf, sunsets and sizzling kisses, can Malie let go of her past and risk something she’d locked away forever… her heart.
I really enjoyed the first book of this series and I was looking forward to reading Malie’s book. This book gave me major summer vibes. With sun, sand and cocktails it’s everything we have all been craving since this pandemic started. If you need a summer escape pick up this book.
Malie is still grieving for her brother and for the life, her friends could have had. When Mallie was 18 she and her friends had a car accident. Malie was lucky and went away with a few scratches but not all of them were that lucky and Malie has always felt guilty about this. Malie also lost her brother to cancer many years ago. Malie has never dealt with her loss or her survivor guilt. All I wanted to do is give Malie a big hug and tell her to let it all out. I wanted to tell her it’s okay to feel this way but that she needed to live her life too.
Todd Masters is a delectable hunk of a man. Todd has worked extremely hard to get where he is and he wants to give back to kids who are facing similar situations to him. He wants to show these kids that there are opportunities for them. Todd and Malie have that instant attraction in their meet-cute, which was also a very funny scene.
This story is cute and romantic. It’s a perfect light-hearted easy read. I am really looking forward to the other 2 friends in this group getting their own books.
