My Top Reads of 2021

It’s that time of year where I pick my favourite reads of 2021. I have been very fortunate and have been able to read a great many books this year. I was to thank all the publishers and authors that have gifted me copies of their books.

It was quite difficult to pick just 21 books. These are books I either read or listened to in 2021, not necessarily those published in 2021. As always these are in no particular order.

First up is A Killer’s Daughter. This is a new author to me and a new series. The main character in this book is Agent Nadine Finch who is a profiler. I was a huge fan of Criminal Minds and love a profiling themed story. This series is right up my street

Next is One Day in December this is a book set over 10 years where 2 people keep meeting and while there is a connection the timing is never right. I love a book with this theme, think One Day, Me Before You. This is one of those epic love stories that you will be thinking about long after you finish.

I love Melissa’s writing and The Wicked Aftermath was my favourite of hers from this year. This book will rip out your heart out, break it into a million pieces and then glue it back together. Oh, it was beautiful.

I’ve been a fan of Josie Quinn since book one but book eleven, Hush Little Girl is my favourite yet. If you haven’t read this series yet what are you waiting for?

This is another one of my favourite series. Nikki Hunt has been chasing the serial killer Frost since book one but in the third instalment Lost Angels it all comes to a head.

In the Ravenous Dark is a story about a pansexual bloodmage. I mean do you need to know anymore?

The next two books are by one of my favourite authors. I first read Kristen’s books last year and I immediately fell in love with her writing. This year she supplied two new books in the Callaghan Sister Series. Did My Love Life Shrink in the Wash? and How Much Wine Will Fix My Broken Heart?

If you are looking for a series that will have you laughing so much you have tears then this one is for you!

Isn’t it just the best feeling when you find a new author that you just fall in love with? Well that’s what happened when I read Shadow Falls. I absolutely love this series and I can’t wait to read the next one.

Now this next book is one I felt like I waited my whole life for. Pitch to Palace is for every girl who has ever felt like she’s not what is expected of her. Bella is an inspiration for us all.

Now you all know I love a Christmas book and now my favourite author has written a Christmas book! I know! I’m still freaking out over here! if you haven’t read Making Spirits Bright yet then download it now and enjoy this festive rom-com!

While I do read a lot of YA I usually read YA fantasy. This book, The Hate U Give, is so much more than a story. It’s so powerful and important. I urge you all to read this book.

Home is a story of life, of love, of friendship, of broken hearts and happy endings

Well, it wouldn’t be a top books of the year post without one of my absolute favs Heidi Swain. Underneath the Christmas Tree brings Heidi’s theme of community and a celebration of the season together perfectly.

Jaimie Admans is another author that was new to me this year. The Post Box at the North Pole was one of my top Christmas books of the year. It was so magical.

As I am sure you are aware I am a huge fan of Holly Martin and Mistletoe at Moonstone Lake was everything I needed this Christmas. I loved the Christmas market and Jewel Island was just magical.

Lost Souls is the third book in the Lockhart and Green series. The reason I loved this book so much is that it was very realistic.

The Broken Ones is the eighth book in the Gina Harte series and this one CREEPED. ME. OUT!

Blood Heir was an excellent YA fantasy. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read the other two in this series.

Watch Her Sleep is the third book in the Charlotte Winters series. Charlotte is a private investigator who is hired from time to time by the residents of Salem Island. This one is creepy, like seriously creepy! (Are you seeing a theme here)

And last but not least my final book on this list is The Winter Girls the second book in the Agent Tori Hunter series. This story has a unique and unusual motive.

I hope you enjoyed this list. What were your top books of the year? Come back tomorrow to see my goals for 2022!
