The squad you love is out of time. Prepare for the thrilling finale in the epic, bestselling Aurora Cycle series about a band of unlikely heroes who just might be the galaxy's last hope for survival.
Is this the end?
What happens when you ask a bunch of losers, discipline cases and misfits to save the galaxy from an ancient evil? The ancient evil wins, of course.
Wait . . . Not. So. Fast.
When we last saw Squad 312, they were working together seamlessly (aka, freaking out) as an intergalactic battle raged and an ancient superweapon threatened to obliterate Earth. Everything went horribly wrong, naturally.
But as it turns out, not all endings are endings, and the team has one last chance to rewrite theirs. Maybe two. It’s complicated.
Cue Zila, Fin and Scarlett (and Magellan!) making friends, making enemies and making history? Sure, no problem.
Cue Tyler, Kal and Auri joining forces with two of the galaxy’s most hated villains? Um, okay, yeah. That too.
Actually saving the galaxy, though?
This is another audiobook that I started and stopped a few times this year. Not because it was bad but just because I really struggled with audiobooks this year. It’s only the last few months I have got my rhythm back and have been listening non-stop for the last few weeks.
Being the third book in the series we know and love the characters in Squad 312. The second book left on such a cliffhanger, with the team all split out over time and space I wondered how they would ever resolve the issues. The book required quite a bit of concentration which is one of the reasons I stopped and started it so many times.
In usual Jay and Amie style, they had me laughing and crying. There were a lot of tears, some happy some sad. Aime and Jay know how to bring out all my emotions.
Illuminae is the first audiobook I listened to and it made me fall in love with audiobooks. The reason for this is the full cast of narrators. I absolutely love that each character’s POV has its own narrator. It gives such a rounded and encapsulating story.
I won’t say too much about the story but it was a fitting ending to this series and I cannot wait to see what these two authors bring next.
