I am not a regency romance reader. Not at all. I hadn’t even heard of The Bridgeton’s before Netflix made the series. I also was one of the few people that had no plans to watch it. Well that all changed within a few weeks of the series going out. I’ve watched the first season about 4 times I think! When I watched season 2 there were lots of people saying there were a lot of changes from the book. Having not read the book myself I thought I would see what they all meant.

I love Anthony. He is devilishly handsome and has a very cheeky personality. From the first moment he meets Kate it’s constant bickering and one-uping each other. It was obvious where this would go. I loved the enemies-to-lovers vibe of this book. Kate is a strong female character. I loved her and how she didn’t let Anthony walk all over her. She wasn’t looking for love but love had other plans for Kate.

Rosylan’s narration is excellent. You really feel like you are back in the 1800s. Rosalyn brought them all to life for me. It was very easy to listen and keep engaged in the story.

Looking forward to reading the others.

About Julia Quinn

#1 New York Times bestselling author Julia Quinn loves to dispel the myth that smart women don’t read (or write) romance, and and if you watch reruns of the game show The Weakest Link you might just catch her winning the $79,000 jackpot. She displayed a decided lack of knowledge about baseball, country music, and plush toys, but she is proud to say that she aced all things British and literary, answered all of her history and geography questions correctly, and knew that there was a Da Vinci long before there was a code.

A graduate of Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges, Ms. Quinn is one of only sixteen members of Romance Writers of America’s Hall of Fame. Her books have been translated into 32 languages, and she lives with her family in the Pacific Northwest.

The Bridgertons, her popular series of historical romance, is currently in production by Shondaland as a Netflix original series starring Julie Andrews, Phoebe Dynevor, and Rége-Jean Page
