The house has soft, purple wisteria twining around the door. You step inside.
The hall is cool after the hot summer's day. The welcome is kind, and always warm.
Yet something makes you suspect life here can't be as perfect as it seems.
After all, the brightest smile can hide the darkest secret. But wouldn't you pay any price to have a glorious place like this?
Welcome to Winterfold.
Martha Winter's family is finally coming home.
This book has been on my TBR pile for a while and as part of the Netgalley challenge I’m taking part in I thought it was high time I read it. I have previously read 2 books by Harriet but have many more on my wishlist.
This book has quite a lot of characters but I felt like I knew them all a little bit by the end of the book. I liked that each chapter focused on one person and explained what had happened in their lives.
The Winter family seem to have lost their way a bit. You can tell that at one point they were all a really happy family even with whatever secrets they hold but now they just seem a little sad and lost
I felt so horribly sad for Cat and I think she was the character I identified with the most. I think that she would be the one that I would be friends with.
It’s very hard to review such a short part of the story but it’s a good opening and it really sets the scene for what I hope is a very interesting story. I can’t wait to read part 2.
